After just three years since it entered the Philippine market in 2013, Volkswagen Philippines has broken the 1,000-units sales mark by moving out 1,060 units from its showrooms from January to December 2016--a 76 percent increase over its 2015 sales, making it the country's top European car brand in 2016.
Volkswagen Philippines' sales growth came at a time when it expanded its dealership network. Besides the five dealers in Taguig, Quezon City, Mandaluyong, Muntinlupa, and Cebu, three more were added in 2016: San Fernando City in Pampanga for the northern Luzon region, and Iloilo City and Bacolod City in Western Visayas. Volkswagen Philippines also received numerous awards and citations for its various models and corporate social responsibility efforts, most notable of which are its Child Safety Initiative campaign and the Volkswagen Passat being named as the winner in the Mid-Size Luxury Sedan category for the 2016 Car of the Year-Philippines.
In light of its success in 2016, Volkswagen Philippines is looking to expand its growth even further in 2017, "as more car buyers become more financially empowered and subsequently look beyond price points to 'level up' to the premium segments.
